How to Be Excellent Youths in the New Era
When watching the live broadcast of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and grasping its ideas, I had new thoughts about how to be an excellent youth in the new era. General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a message to a vast number of young people in this report. In fact, it was a great call made by the Party leaders to the younger generation, which pointed out the direction for their growth and success in the new era. Therefore, youths are expected to constantly improve themselves and make use of opportunities, so that they can become masters of the new era. Below are my suggestions for how to be a new-age youth.
First, youths are supposed to obtain creative abilities. The competition for comprehensive national strength in today’s world is, in the end, the competition for talent and innovation. The hope of improving the nation’s independent innovation ability and building an innovation-oriented country lies in the youth. Young people must cultivate innovative thinking, tap their potential, and enhance their creative abilities to continue to surpass their predecessors’ achievements and create new ones. Wei Si is a good case in point. As the vice president of the iFlytek Research Institute of HKUST, he led his team to make iFlytek’s AI voice intelligence the world’s top level. The translation machines they invented can translate local dialects into Chinese and English with an accuracy rate of over 90%. Even German speeches with an Indian accent can be translated without error. Therefore, in aiming to stand out in the fierce world competition, most young people need to improve their innovation abilities.
Furthermore, youths need to be equipped with abundant knowledge. No matter their positions, they must acquire professional knowledge and abilities. Therefore, young people should learn extensively and comprehensively, especially new knowledge. They should learn the necessary skills and abilities to lay a solid foundation for future growth and development. The speed of knowledge updating in today’s world is constantly accelerating. Young people who dare to take on important responsibilities must study extensively, expand their horizons, and lay a solid foundation for further development. Therefore, young people should be diligent in learning, as it is the foundation of progress.
Most importantly, contemporary youths should be brave and shoulder the heavy responsibility of history. Most young people should be willing to contribute to and protect their motherland. Those fighting against the covid epidemic are a good example. During the outbreak of the epidemic, young doctors and volunteers took the risk of being infected and worked at the front line to take care of patients. Some who got exhausted from treating patients day and night fainted in the operating room corridors, and some even paid for their lives due to the heavy workload. It is because of these young people who dare to take responsibility without fear that our motherland has become more prosperous. As young people in the new era, people should learn from their perseverance and fearlessness.
To sum up, contemporary youths should uphold their ideals and beliefs, improve their creative abilities, broaden their knowledge reserves, and combine their future with the country’s destiny. Contemporary youths must take the historical mission as their responsibility, grasp the pulse of the times, keep up with the trend of development, and meet various challenges to build a more prosperous and stronger China.
