Hello, China in 2049 !
To China in 2049:
Hello!
Time flows like a torrent and carries this letter conveying my thoughts from 2022 to you. I am 18 years old, an age at which I can pursue my dreams without regret. Now, under the warm sunlight, I am writing down my hopes for 2049. Rather than a simple letter, it is more like a promise to you, a promise of a better life in 2049.
In 2049, the centenary of the founding of New China, we will achieve our second hundred-year goal and build a modern socialist country that is rich, strong, democratic, civilized, and harmonious. When talking about China in 2049, we are confident in our country and the well-off life of its people. Children will be provided with more educational resources. Patients will receive timely treatment. Empty nesters will be well taken care of. Disabled people will be respected. Laws will be improved, and our society will be more harmonious. Since I learned about the goal, I have determined to pursue and fulfill my dreams together with our country, and I firmly believe that we will make it in 2049. This goal is like a beacon that inspired millions of people like me. Once the goal was set, people from all walks of life worked together with one heart despite countless challenges ahead of us.
Looking back, we have witnessed the country’s development in many ways. We have seen Beijing drawing global attention as the city of the double Olympics; we have seen the overwhelming development of China’s 5G technology; we have seen China’s high-speed railways ahead of other countries; we have seen the refinement and development of the Belt and Road Initiative; and we have seen China’s wisdom and commitment to fighting against COVID-19. I see our motherland standing rock-firm in the family of nations. As the new generation, we are on the road of the Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation, and we firmly believe we can use our strength to turn the Chinese dream into reality.
How much work should be done for the successful launch of the space station and the exploration in the deep sea? How many hours have scientists worked on the weather forecasting algorithms for the Winter Olympics and the proton therapy that extends people’s lives? They left home and worked in the wilderness and laboratories for scientific progress. They are made by history, but they are makers of history as well. They are our heroes.
Our generation should learn from them and follow suit. As Present Xi said sincerely to our youths at the CPC’s 20th National Congress, “You should steadfastly follow the Party and its guidance, aim high but stay grounded, and dare to think big and take action but make sure you can deliver. You should strive to be the new era’s great young generation, a generation with ideals, a sense of responsibility, grit, and dedication. As you endeavor to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects, your youth and vitality will bloom in full splendor.” To live up to his expectations for young people, we should take actions immediately. Learning experiences from the past and binding our lives with the country’s development, we will strive to build a better China in the coming years!
