Great Achievements on People-centered Philosophy: My Florishing Hometown
A people-centered development philosophy reiterated in the Report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is one of the achievements that strike great pride in me. Through the continuous efforts of the whole Party and the entire nation, we have realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. A historic resolution to absolute poverty in China has been brought about, giving us great confidence to advance toward the second centenary goal of building China into a modern socialist country in all respects. The achievements and goals are vivid embodiments of the people-centered philosophy, showing the public that our human rights are recognized, and our efforts appreciated.
I have witnessed the enormous development in China in the past ten years. Take Inner Mongolia, my hometown, as an example. Famous for stunning landscapes and breathtaking natural wonders, Inner Mongolia was different from what it is today. It is hard to imagine that it was largely covered by barren sand dunes less than a decade ago. In my memory, sunlit and enchanting scenes of spring were nowhere to be found, except severe weather, like wailing winds blowing sand and dust that blurred the surroundings. Thankfully, desertification prevention and control was prioritized under the wise guidance of the Party. Given severe natural conditions, like water shortage, infertile soil, and sandstorms that posed the greatest threat to seedlings, a series of issues emerged when the sand-control project was implemented. No matter how hard we tried to grow plants, they were buried or destroyed by sandstorms. After repeated experiments with financial and technological assistance from the government, Inner Mongolia finally turned from a deserted area to an unbroken stretch of grasslands. Thus, in recent years, it is the fresh smell given off by bushes and flowers waving in the sunlight that pervades my memory; instead of drifting sand and roaring winds that forced us to put on masks because of the detrimental effect on our respiration system.
Besides improved living conditions, rapid development could be seen in infrastructure, education, business, and the quality of people’s lives. Thanks to the positioning system, each livestock has been equipped with an electrical ear tag, through which farmers and breeding factories could track their livestock, therefore declining cattle deaths and creating a new era of cattle ranching and breeding. In the past decade, the feelings of being lonely and unwanted were the most terrible poverty, whereas the Party has made great efforts to spur the whole nation to unite and fight for a brighter future. The realization of all-round moderate prosperity shows that the Party has stayed true to its original aspiration and founding mission. Under their leadership, the Chinese people worked hard in the final stage towards this goal and finally completed the historic transformation from poverty to secure access to food and clothing, a decent life, and moderate prosperity at last.
China, a key player in the future world, has attracted talents and investments to contribute to the well-being of its people. Therefore, upholding the pride of the Chinese people and boosted by the outstanding achievements in the past decades, the Communist Party of China will continue to preserve and bequeath the centuries-long wisdom of China and lead us to a brighter future.
