We are to Share a Better Future
The past years have witnessed extraordinarily rapid development in all aspects throughout China, which is a feather in the cap of every single citizen. Although there remain some issues in need of improvement, our great motherland has been sparing no effort to create a better future.
Some criticize that public problems like poverty, uneven development between regions, as well as culture shock and so on still exist more or less in China, and they all bring adverse effects to not only personal improvement but also national progress. What they suggest makes sense to a certain degree, as in reality, we all have to face these obstacles for quite a long time. But it is also undeniable that we Chinese are so brave, realistic, and down-to-earth that we are tackling these issues at both macro and micro levels.
At the national level, there is no doubt that our government prioritizes the improvement of people’s livelihood. For instance, it is noticeable that poverty alleviation has achieved remarkable success, lifting more than 100 million people out of poverty and bringing the economy in nearly 100 under-developed counties back to life. We have seen a variety of policies catering to diverse regions, whose economic situations as well as cultures differ from each other greatly. To name a few, some are focused on governmental fiscal investment, and others on industrial transformation. Every single step embodies the efforts taken by our policymakers, which is a reflection of their concerns for the common public.
It should also be noted that a steady stride takes place in cultural advancement. In recent years, it is the preservation of traditions and cultural shock that really concerned us. Therefore, it is of great urgency to promote the evolution and growth of fine traditional Chinese culture in new and creative ways in the new era. What relieves us is that such programs have been implemented and made significant progress. For example, the establishment of overseas Confucius Institutes that successfully promote Chinese culture and integrate with local society has drawn close attention. Thanks to these efforts, our Chinese culture has found its way to prosper in modern lives at home and abroad.
As for individuals, I am deeply impressed by how they pursue a better life for themselves or their families. They may come across difficulties at work or at home, but they never give up and keep striding forward instead. People of all walks of life fulfill their duties regardless of weariness, boredom, and exhaustion, even when struggling for survival. Some have no choice but to work overtime, while others suffer from injuries resulting from heavy labor work. But they are all persistent and resilient to fight for what they want, which is why they are worth being praised and respected.
In addition, a sense of responsibility is thought highly of among Chinese citizens. Regardless of gender, age, and career, it is common that some people are ready to serve others without hesitation. For example, during the Chinese Spring Festival, the holiday for family reunions, soldiers, policemen, and firefighters stick to their posts to safeguard the public. And during the pandemic, doctors and nurses worked against the clock for patients day and night, sacrificing their time with family. What they have done undoubtedly contributes to progress in society and public safety.
In general, though continuous improvement is still essential, there is no doubt that China has made fantastic development throughout the years in all aspects, and the leaders as well as citizens are all reliable and competitive. As a result, we should be optimistic about the future because of everyone’s contribution.
