Message by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on World Wildlife Day联合国秘书长安东尼奥·古特雷斯世界野生动植物日致辞On World Wildlife Day, we reflect on our responsibility to protect the magnificent diversity of life on our planet. 值此世界野生动植物日，我们反思自己保护地球上盛大壮观丰富多样生命的责任。And we recognize our abject failure. Human activities are laying waste to once-thriving forests, jungles, farmland, oceans, rivers, seas, and lakes.人类活动正在毁坏曾经繁盛的森林、丛林、农田和江洋湖海。One million species teeter on the brink of extinction, due to habitat destruction, fossil fuel pollution and the worsening climate crisis. 由于栖息地遭到破坏、化石燃料污染和日益恶化的气候危机，上百万物种濒临灭绝。
We must end this war on nature. The good news is that we have the tools, the knowledge, and the solutions.This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, which has helped protect thousands of plants and animals. 今年是《濒危物种国际贸易公约》通过50周年，该公约帮助保护了成千上万种植物和动物。And last year’s agreement on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework marked an important step towards putting our planet on a path to healing.去年就“昆明-蒙特利尔全球生物多样性框架”达成一致，是使我们的地球走上治愈之路的重要一步。As this year’s theme – ‘Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation’ – highlights, we need to work across governments, civil society, and the private sector to turn commitment into action.正如今年“野生生物保护合作伙伴关系”这一主题所强调的那样，我们需要在政府、民间社会和私营部门之间开展合作，将承诺转化为行动。And we need much bolder actions now to cut emissions, accelerate renewables, and build climate resilience. 而且现在需要采取更大胆的行动减少排放，加快可再生能源的发展，并建立气候变化抵御力。Throughout, we need to place the voices of local communities and indigenous people – our world’s most effective guardians of biodiversity – front and centre.在这一过程中，我们自始至终都需要把世界上生物多样性最实际的守护者——地方社区和土著人民的声音置于首要和核心位置。Today and every day, let us all do our part to preserve natural habitats and build a thriving future for all living beings.今天以及每一天，让我们所有人都尽上自己的一份力量，保护自然栖息地，为所有生物建设一个繁荣的未来。
